The Australian Humanist of the Year awards were this year given to Bruce Pascoe, Georgie Stone OAM (Young Australian Humanist of the Year) and Lyndon Storey (Outstanding Humanist Achiever of the Year) in recognition of his outstanding achievements in the Australian Humanist movement.

The Humanists Australia board are excited to announce that we have employed our first ever Chief Executive (CEO) to convert our HA Vision into reality. Dr Heidi Nicholl has signed up for three years, subject to funding, with the first year already funded thanks to a generous gift from Humanists Victoria specifically for that purpose.

On the one-year anniversary of the detention of Mubarak Bala - President of the Humanist Association of Nigeria - a coalition of 86 organisations and concerned individuals across the globe, including Humanists Australia, have published an open letter addressed to the Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, seeking his immediate release.
