Australian Humanist of the Year Bruce Pascoe Award Acceptance Speech

There are still people who don’t like to include Aboriginal people in the life of the nation, except as runners and footballers. People who like to diminish the culture and the civilization that Australian Aboriginal people had before European invasion. There was an abundance of evidence of the sophistication of this culture that was patently obvious to the explorers and pioneers. We’re still struggling to accept that evidence today.
