Try our RECYCLE Test!
Challenge #4 - Drop off items that you don’t want, and which cannot go into the recycling bin, to places that can recycle them
To give an indication of what can be recycled and where, check out the ACT Government’s Recyclopaedia website. Similar recycling options could be available in your locality. Many companies and organisations are accepting items for recycling.
For example, TerraCycle® and Colgate® have partnered to create a free Oral Care Recycling Program for oral care products such as toothpaste tubes and caps, manual toothbrushes, electric toothbrush heads, toothbrush and toothpaste tube plastic packaging, and floss containers;
Nespresso collects and recycles its used coffee pods, both the containers and the coffee.
TerraCycle® have a number of FREE recycling schemes. Find out more about these and how you can participate in these free TerraCycle® recycling programs.
Resource Management Centres or Green Sheds – located near rubbish tips - will accept a wide range of items for reuse and recycling although you need to check that your specific item is accepted. They often have the facilities to accept small amounts of hazardous household waste for disposal, such as properly contained asbestos, snail baits, gas bottles, paints, cooking oil, pesticides.
