Award Nominations

Humanists Australia is proud to announce that nominations are open for Humanist Awards for 2025. These prestigious awards recognise outstanding individuals who have made significant contributions to promoting humanism, secularism, and the betterment of society through reason, compassion, and ethical principles.

Categories:

Australian Humanist of the Year: AHoY is awarded annually to an Australian who has made an outstanding contribution to public life, consistent with Humanist principles and values.

Young Australian Humanist of the Year: Young AHoY is awarded up to once a year, to an Australian under the age of 35, who has made an outstanding contribution to public life, consistent with Humanist principles and values.

Lifetime Achievement Award: Beginning in 2024, The Lifetime Achievement Award (LAA) is awarded to an Australian who over their lifetime has made an outstanding contribution to public life, consistent with Humanist principles and values, and who passed away in the 12 months prior to the close of award nominations in that year.

Nominations:

We invite all members and supporters of Humanists Australia to submit nominations for deserving candidates. Nominations close on March 31. 

Selection Process:

A selection panel will carefully evaluate all nominations and recommend recipients for each category  to the Humanists Australia CEO. Decisions will be based on the nominees' impact, commitment to humanist values, and dedication to creating a more rational and compassionate world.

Awards Ceremony:

The Australian Humanist of the Year Awards 2025 ceremony will be a celebration of reason, ethics, and humanism. Join us in honouring the recipients and their remarkable achievements. Details about the awards ceremony, including the date and location, will be announced at a later date.
